Design competition by invitation. Candidate project
The new complex of the Parish Church of San Giovanni Bosco reflects the life of the Christian community in its encounter with God through celebratory action and worship. The architecture serves as a place/house for the people of God in reflection and prayer, but also during occasions when the community engages in celebrations beyond the Eucharistic liturgy. The new church seeks a mature and serene reconciliation with tradition, both in its respect for the rites and in its architectural identity, following the thread of the great Catholic tradition.
The facades facing the churchyard are characterized by the design of a grid of free but ordered elements. They welcome the faithful and the community, providing shelter and spaces for interaction and exchange. The church's front portico acts as a focal element, housing the bells at its apex, reminiscent of the 'sail' bell towers. The liturgical spaces and volumes for pastoral and residential activities are distinct and gathered around the internal courtyard. Like an open hall, the courtyard is bordered by the pastoral ministry rooms and adjoins the liturgical hall.
