Former milk plant in Bari. New District Health Center
The project is located on a relatively regular trapezoidal lot, currently occupied by two distinct buildings. The most prominent of these, originally used as the administrative offices of the former Centrale del Latte, incorporates a warehouse that once housed milk pasteurization and bottling equipment. A series of smaller ancillary structures - mostly in a state of abandonment and slated for demolition - complete the site. The main building, which faces Via Orazio Flacco, will undergo restoration and renovation to accommodate the new Casa di Comunità (Community Health Center). A new building, to be constructed on the footprint of the demolished service structures, will house the headquarters of the local and district health services of the A.S.L. BA (Local Health Authority of Bari). The two buildings will be physically connected by an elevated walkway at the second floor, ensuring functional integration between the two volumes and allowing for flexible use of the interior spaces. These will serve both the activities of the Casa di Comunità and those of the District Health Center.
