The proposed solution represents an innovative approach for the service center, rooted in the theme of its foundations.
This is, by definition, a "foundational" concept for any architectural project, while still adhering to a series of design invariants that can be summarized as follows:
• Minimal intervention logic
• Total reversibility of the intervention
• Dry construction technologies
• Removability of the structure
• Compatibility of new materials with the context
• Preservation of visual and physical connections within the area
• Clear distinction between existing elements, those re-emerged, and new works
• Durability over time, aimed at minimal maintenance
• Environmental and economic sustainability of the project during its operational phase.
The design concept of concentrating the foundation structures into a single supporting element follows from the placement of the service center along the western boundary and its reconfiguration from the initial competition proposal. The improvement of the foundation produces the following advantages:
1. Significant reduction of the footprint occupied by the structure
2. Almost complete separation of the load-bearing elements from the archaeological soil
3. Arrangement of the required functions along the boundary wall
4. Greater distance between the new volume and the artwork installation dominating the area
5. Effective integration with the natural context of the site, thanks to the predominant use of wood
