The theme of this small architecture consists of the concept of ‘double’. The double as the relationship between autonomous but closely related organisms and the differences as the exaltation of composition intent on forming a whole new organism.
Intended for two family units with kinship ties, the new house is added to the pre-existing single-floor dwelling built in the 1970s. The bodies intersect on the first floor where the new building leans against the other while remaining independent. The NL house was born as a budding from the pre-existing and grows leaning against it acquiring a formal autonomy while retaining in its layout the link and signs of the original building.
Situated on the edge of a village in the Land of Bari, between the Mediterranean gardens and low houses, the new dwelling, emphasizes the continuity of the cubiform character of the buildings around and, at the same time, claims the autonomy proper to modernity.
