Design Competition. Winning project (first place)
The regular forms of the new Pavilion of armony, a place for communal meditation and contemplation, the minimalist use of the proposed materials, the integration with the existing context, and the measured distance from the eclectic architecture all aim to create a space between Art and Architecture. This space preserves, on one hand, the radical "useless" design of art and, on the other, the "basic functions" of an architecture that must accommodate and guide meditative
individuals, driven by spirituality.
From the terrace situated between the arcades of the existing cemetery, visitors will ascend via a gentle ramp to the covered area of the square pavilion. Here, small prayer groups can be organized in the forms that each religious community wishes to adopt. Seated in a circle, kneeling on the wooden floor, oriented toward Mecca, as indicated by the arrangement of the wooden planks. Additionally, individuals can pray or engage in personal rituals while sitting along the reflective bench placed at the edge of the water basin.
