Design competition. Award-winning project (fourth place)
The project for the restoration and adaptive reuse of Palazzo Frisini focuses on consolidating, restoring, and refurbishing the existing heritage structure, which consists of a ground floor and two upper floors, to transform it into student housing. Particular attention is given to the revitalization of the internal courtyard, which over the years has been subject to additions, rendering it an enclosed and uninhabitable space. The areas created by the removal of these incongruous volumes (in accordance with the technical regulations of the current urban planning scheme) are entirely dedicated to the formation of green spaces for outdoor activities for students. The design includes two distinct access points, clearly separating private and public areas. The main entrance is private and reserved for student residents, while the secondary entrance is open to the city. This secondary access leads into the internal courtyard/garden, thereby fostering greater integration of the new facility with the surrounding urban context.
