Harudot By Nana Coffee Roasters by IDIN Architects, Tambon Samet, ThailandJury and Popular Vote Winner, 12th Annual A+Awards, Restaurants (L >1000 sq ft)

An acronym for Integrating Design Into Nature, IDIN Architects was founded in 2004. The Thai firm perceives ‘nature’ in two ways. Firstly, nature can be defined as the surrounding ecology. Secondly, it can also refer to different mannerisms and personalities. The design philosophy and attention of IDIN are to merge this sense of surroundings, the ‘natures’, to the architectural aesthetic. This merge is done through a process of analyzing and prioritizing the different needs and requirements of each project. In addition to being an acronym, the Thai word “idin” is used to describe the natural phenomenon when soil releases a beautiful scent after rainfall.

A small team of architects, handpicked by principal and founder Stinessen to be the best at what they do, this Norwegian firm specializes in projects that are meaningful — to both the client and nature. Their projects take place in different parts of the world; they travel and live far apart, but the bliss of the modern world is that we can still work seamlessly together at all times. You can sit beside someone or far apart, but understanding each other in creative design demands something else. It requires hard work, intuition, common interest and respect — the ingredients of a great team.

MPavilion 10 by MPavilion, Melbourne, Australia | Jury Vote Winner, 12th Annual A+Awards, Architecture +Community

Tadao Ando’s architectural legacy is distinguished by a profound integration of natural light and a commitment to harmonizing structures with their surrounding landscapes, resulting in spaces that represent the intersection of spiritual principles and everyday life. It is often remarked that Ando’s design philosophy draws inspiration from this upbringing in Japan; his architectural vision extends beyond mere construction, viewing architecture as a transformative force within society. This is reflected in his actions; upon receiving the Pritzker Prize in 1995, he redirected the $100,000 prize to support orphans affected by the Kobe earthquake.
