A student village rooted in community, heritage, and sustainability.
EHDD designed Tercero Student Housing Phase 3 at the University of California, Davis to support 1,200 students in a vibrant, village-style living environment. The 330,000-square-foot development is composed of two neighborhoods, each organized around a courtyard that preserves and celebrates the site’s heritage trees—offering students meaningful connections to nature and one another.
This LEED Platinum-certified project emphasizes community at every scale—from intimate residential clusters to shared outdoor spaces that foster campus-wide belonging. The design prioritizes bicycle and pedestrian circulation, seamlessly integrating bike parking, shaded walkways, and native landscaping to encourage sustainable mobility and outdoor engagement.
Tercero Phase 3 is deeply contextual, responding to the Central Valley’s climate, the UC Davis campus fabric, and regional traditions of courtyard living. The buildings maximize natural light and ventilation while providing students with flexible social and study spaces that reinforce well-being and independence. The result is a student housing complex that is as livable as it is sustainable—built to grow with the next generation of UC Davis students.
