A mission-driven workplace that reflects BRIDGE Housing’s values of community, affordability, and resourcefulness.
BRIDGE Housing’s San Francisco headquarters renovation was completed on a tight budget and schedule to transform an existing office suite into a functional, welcoming space. Located in the San Francisco’s Financial District, the building reflects the nonprofit’s mission to build affordable communities for working families and seniors.
To reduce costs and construction waste, the design reused key elements from the prior tenant buildout, including perimeter offices, meeting rooms, and the acoustic ceiling system. New additions included a reception area, large multipurpose conference and training rooms, and an open kitchen with sweeping views over Chinatown.
Visitors are greeted by a backlit portrait of BRIDGE founders Don Terner and Alan L. Stein. Natural sunlight products an ethereal glow behind the image, which covers a window facing the wall to the adjacent building. The open office plan includes upgraded workstations with colorful, irregularly placed privacy screens, and a sound masking system to improve comfort and acoustic performance.
EHDD’s design supports collaboration, focus, and storytelling—helping BRIDGE’s staff do their work in a space that feels efficient and inspiring.
