Pomerleau is a Canadian construction company whose values, inclusion, employee well-being, and environmental commitment, directly inspired the design of its new headquarters. Commissioned to reimagine seven floors of offices in a heritage tower in Old Montreal built in 1961, Humà guided Pomerleau through its transition toward a hybrid post-pandemic work model. The project was recognized at the 18th edition of the Grands Prix du Design with Gold certifications in three categories.
The central challenge was to reposition sixteen distinct departments across six floors while keeping teams operational throughout construction. The design is rooted in biophilia and WELL principles, with warm neutral tones, carefully planned direct-indirect lighting, and a distinct central core on each floor featuring wood, felt, and steel. Custom separator screens offer varied atmospheres between departments without ever feeling intrusive, integrating greenery and personal objects within their framework.
On the ground floor, a fully flexible space visible from the street accommodates conference rooms, a training area, and an executive event venue, giving Pomerleau a new presence within this heritage district. Large custom suspended acoustic discs define collaborative zones while managing sound comfort in this double-height volume.
Our goal was to design not an addition of people and departments, but a genuine human synergy, a living laboratory rooted in the company's values.
