Bromont, Montagne d'Expériences is a four-season mountain resort facing the obsolescence of its facilities and the ambition to establish itself as a premier tourist destination in the Eastern Townships. In 2018, Humà Design + Architecture was commissioned to develop a global vision and master plan covering the base of the Versant du Village, the Domaine du Château Bromont, and the new residential sector of Plateau Edmonton.
The master plan is organized around five interconnected themed plazas forming a continuous promenade from the parking areas to the chairlifts. Each plaza creates a distinct moment: arrival, guest services, outdoor animation, retail, and connection to the mountain. The management of grade changes, universal accessibility, and the flow of visitors across all seasons guided every planning decision.
The architectural language, wood volumes, steeply pitched roofs, and large glazed surfaces oriented toward the mountain, roots the buildings in their natural environment while asserting a contemporary mountain resort identity. This cohesive vision laid the foundation for all subsequent projects built on the site, from the Chalet Soleil to La Débarque 2.0, the Boutique & Café, and the Chalet du Sommet.
Our goal was to create a place with a soul, designed for all four seasons, where each phase of development would strengthen the legibility and vitality of the whole.
