Hameni Tower: Landscape Beyond the Ground Plane
Hameni Tower in Jumeirah Village Circle explores how landscape can shape a high-rise residential building beyond the ground plane.
The 33-storey tower was conceived around a simple idea: to integrate landscape and architecture both horizontally and vertically. Planting is not treated as an applied feature, but as an organising element that moves from the streetscape through the podium and shared amenity spaces, and continues upwards through the residences.
The lower six levels accommodate the arrival areas, retail, parking and building infrastructure. Rather than allowing these essential functions to dominate the street, the podium façade incorporates landscape at several levels, softening its scale, screening parked vehicles and creating a more inviting relationship with the public realm.
Above, the podium roof becomes a landscaped second ground plane. Designed as a recreational setting for residents, it brings together gardens, a circular swimming pool and a range of communal amenities, including a restaurant with private dining spaces, gymnasium, juice bar, event and yoga terrace, spa, children’s club, splash pool and outdoor play areas.
The remaining 27 floors contain approximately 500 residences, ranging from studios to four-bedroom apartments and penthouses. Generous balconies, vertical gardens and floor-to-ceiling glazing extend the landscape strategy into the homes, bringing planting, daylight and views into residents’ everyday spaces.
The tower’s palette of natural finishes and landscaped spaces is intended to create a quieter, more restorative residential experience. By using landscape to shape the base, shared facilities and residential levels, Hameni Tower offers a model of urban living in which wellbeing and nature are embedded within the architecture itself.
