Grande Centre Point Prestige Bangkok: A Contemporary Landmark on Ratchadamri Road
Located on a prominent corner of Ratchadamri Road in Bangkok, Grande Centre Point Prestige Bangkok is a 40-storey hotel designed as an extension to the existing Grande Centre Point Ratchadamri. The project introduces 509 rooms and suites alongside a range of hospitality, dining, wellness and event spaces within the city’s central business district.
The 5,814-square-metre site occupies a distinctive position overlooking the Royal Bangkok Sports Club and the surrounding city. The building is arranged in an L-shaped plan to maximise these views, orienting the guestrooms towards either the green expanse of the racecourse or Bangkok’s skyline.
The massing is divided between a podium containing the hotel’s principal public spaces and a tower accommodating the guestrooms. The podium includes the main lobby, speciality restaurants, an all-day dining venue, function and meeting rooms and spa and onsen facilities. Above, the guestrooms are arranged to provide privacy, natural light and extensive views across the city.
A swimming pool on Level 32 creates an elevated outdoor space within the tower. Positioned high above the surrounding streets, it offers guests a quieter environment with open views across central Bangkok.
The architectural language draws from the proportions and detailing of Art Deco while incorporating references to Thai design. Strong vertical lines emphasise the height of the tower and establish a clear rhythm across its elevations. Horizontal bands wrap around the curved upper levels, introducing depth and giving the building a more fluid profile as it rises.
The upper section gradually steps back and narrows towards the roof, distinguishing the tower within the skyline. Its asymmetrical crown gives the building a recognisable silhouette, particularly when viewed from the Royal Bangkok Sports Club and the surrounding high-rise developments.
The façade combines soft beige and green tones with gold-coloured metallic accents. Natural stone and aluminium cladding give the lower levels a more solid appearance, while extensive glazing creates a lighter expression across the upper floors. The contrast between solid and transparent surfaces helps distinguish the public podium from the guestroom tower.
Thai-inspired patterns and details are incorporated into the architecture to provide a stronger connection with Bangkok. These references are used as part of the building’s material and façade composition rather than applied as separate decoration, creating an identity that feels contemporary while remaining connected to its location.
At night, integrated lighting highlights the vertical structure of the podium and the curved horizontal lines of the tower. The lighting establishes a clear hierarchy across the building and makes its different volumes legible within Bangkok’s dense evening skyline.
Through its composition, material palette and response to its urban setting, Grande Centre Point Prestige Bangkok combines a large hospitality programme with a clearly defined architectural identity. The building extends the Grande Centre Point presence on Ratchadamri Road while introducing a new contemporary landmark overlooking one of central Bangkok’s most significant green spaces.
