The Arlington CDC spans 28,482 square feet of interior architecture designed around how children learn, move, and rest. MOYA led full architectural services for the project, coordinating with civil, structural, MEP, accessibility, and code consultants, and managed the permitting process with Arlington County’s Department of Community Planning, Housing & Development (CPHD), Department of Environmental Services (DES), and Permitting Office.
The program includes age-specific classrooms for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers; an indoor gross motor playroom; secure outdoor playgrounds; a multi-purpose room; a family lounge and waiting area; administrative offices; a nursing and wellness room; child-accessible restrooms; food service and prep areas; and a controlled-access entry vestibule with accessible parking and a dedicated drop-off zone.
On the sustainability side, the project incorporates energy-efficient HVAC systems, high-performance glazing, low-impact materials, solar-ready infrastructure, and water conservation fixtures — in line with MOYA’s approach to designing buildings that perform as well as they look.
The center will be licensed in Virginia and nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
