In the vibrant heart of Alexandria, Virginia, the Sansé Apartments stand as a beacon of community impact and community-centered design. This $168 million initiative, is part of a larger vision for the Arlandria-Chirilagua neighborhood. Celebrated for its rich Salvadoran heritage and Latin American influences, the neighborhood plays a key role in shaping the character of Sansé.
Sansé encompasses 416 residential units across 633,096 square feet, providing affordable housing options for 1,200 residents. With 25% of its units dedicated to those earning 40% of the Area Median Income, the project supports equity and social change, ensuring that low- and middle-income families have access to modern, high-quality living spaces. Envisioned with sustainability in mind, Sansé aims for Earthcraft Gold certification, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable design and long-term energy performance.
Moya Design Partners led the interior design, which includes 20,000 square feet of amenities such as a family lounge, fitness center, and outdoor spaces, fostering community engagement among residents. The project also includes a large outdoor lounge, classroom and work area, and social spaces like the family cantina, reinforcing its mission to enhance community impact and overall well-being. In a parallel effort, MOYA Creative brought the project’s branding and communications to life, encapsulating the cultural essence of Arlandria-Chirilagua while elevating the perception of quality affordable housing in the Washington DC / DMV Area.
