The project developed by Two Arquitetura for Virtus Educação school emerged from the challenge of transforming a former São José church house into a modern and stimulating educational environment. With American constructivist teaching methods, the school required cheerful and fun spaces that would promote freedom of movement and students' sense of belonging.
Two found the conceptual starting point in the existing classical architecture itself. The strategy was to create harmonious contrasts between old and new, preserving the authenticity of the historic floors and staircases while introducing colorful and contemporary interventions that give unique personality to the educational environment.
The heart of the project is the central multi-sport court, which received an exclusive design incorporating the school's symbol. This space functions as an articulating element, connecting the various environments and reinforcing institutional identity.
Two created a new structure to house a multifunctional table and bench area, serving both as a cafeteria and as support for events and studies. The playground was strategically positioned under existing large trees, taking advantage of natural shade and creating a playful environment integrated with the landscape.
The materiality reveals careful attention to educational functionality: vinyl flooring in classrooms ensures acoustic comfort, while bathrooms combine porcelain tiles with exposed concrete walls, punctuated by organic mirrors that introduce playful elements. The library received special treatment with wood finishes on floors, walls, and ceiling, creating a welcoming atmosphere for reading.
For classroom identification, Two developed a chromatic system based on the brand identity, where each of the seven spaces receives a specific color applied to doors and ceilings. Furniture from Maqmóveis was selected to meet specific pedagogical needs.
The result is educational architecture that celebrates learning through stimulating environments, where tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously to enchant and inspire students.
