Located within the landmark 11-story Chicago City Hall, the Aldermanic offices have a mixture of classic and modern details that respect the historic nature of the building including two entrances with unique architraves. Within the space, a sense of modernity was introduced with frameless glass doors and clerestories. To create visual interest to a long hallway, the design team introduced patterned carpet and uplights that are diffused by gracefully curving canopies.
A new staircase, anchored by a decorative newel post, improves access between the floors. In the adjoining library, windows with leaded glass panels were restored to their original luster.
