Western Illinois University recently relocated to a new campus along the Mississippi River in downtown Moline, Illinois. Holabird & Root developed a master plan that aligns with the University’s mission - to nurture an interdisciplinary community for students, faculty, and staff. Based on this master plan and in preparation for significant student population growth over the next several years, Western Illinois University retained Holabird & Root to implement the design for the University’s Phase II Building. At the completion of Phase II, the Riverfront Campus now supports 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The building houses general and specialized instructional facilities, faculty and staff office space, smart classrooms, science laboratories, libraries, several student support spaces, and a childcare component.
