Built on a roughly 26,910 sq ft plot on the Tróia peninsula, close to its dunes and shoreline, the house is rotated on the lot to maximise sun exposure and the view toward the Atlantic Ocean and the Serra da Arrábida. A sequence of staggered, set-back volumes accommodates the topography rather than imposing on it, screening the sightlines of neighbouring houses and directing attention toward the ocean and the mountains beyond.
The materials palette is limited to earth tones, timber and metal elements that echo the surrounding dunes, avoiding both stark white and the brighter colours used on neighbouring houses. Inside, the two-storey layout separates social and private life. Upstairs, the two main suites sit at the highest point of the house to reach the view, connected by a bridge that spans the double-height void of the living room; a fireplace runs through both floors as a vertical axis, keeping the ground-floor social space visually connected to movement upstairs. On the lower floor, three bedrooms face private or semi-private patios rather than the street.
Covered porches and pergolas extend the house into the landscape. The pool and leisure areas are set to work with the dune rather than reshape it, and the surrounding planting favours low-maintenance native species in dry green and sand tones. Timber sleepers laid over the sand form the access paths to the house.
