Our architectural proposal aims to support the attractiveness of the city of Paris for Paris Rive Gauche and to respect the wish to revalorize heritage by HSF. To accompany these ambitions, we opted for a contemporary design of façades, architectural details, and a qualitative choice of materials.
In order to modernize the façades, the existing very strong horizontal components (glass battens and light curtains) are, according to the façades, broken or attenuated.
A single material covers the facades, the solid parts like the glazed parts for the street part, thus masking the original design.
In order to enhance the existing heritage, a noble material is retained on all facades rehabilitated. It is a mineral cladding full striated mass,
Offering an evolutionary play of shadows according to the different hours of the day.
For the sake of consistency, the colors retained between the new part and the rehabilitated part are identical, namely black, white and taupe. They are affixed alternately, depending on the type of facade. The rehabilitated frame has a current taupe section and anthracite rack frames. The new parts (extensions & elevations) are treated in white coating. All the joinery, on the rehabilitation part as on the new part, is made of anodized raw aluminum.
By applying noble materials (cladding) to all the existing facades, offering a careful layout and working on the alternation of materials and color, we think of permanently changing the image of the buildings. Fine work on details (occultations in the material of the facade, alternation of materials and their color) complete the architectural intentions and highlight the new facings and consequently the residence.
The materials used are known to require little maintenance (siding) or easy maintenance (simple rendering for plaster). The technical problem of façades lies in the exterior insulation of existing architectonic concrete panels. These panels, to be left in place, have significant reliefs, 3 protrusions over 16 cm. We make it possible to insulate it from the outside thanks to the use of rock wool fastened in the panels and a rigid coating on skeleton, cladding, as facing.
The elevations and extensions of the residence Domrémy will be carried out on an occupied heritage, the operation of which will be maintained throughout the duration of the works. Consequently, there is no provision for an overall overhaul of the functioning of the home, but an adaptation of the existing one.
However, the creation of new housing units and the 50% increase in accommodation capacity raise new problems, such as the size of common spaces, to be revised in line with the new population. Thus the management of access and the new route of flows has to be rethought to limit the nuisances. PMR access is to be foreseen for the entire heritage.
