Nestled in a quiet neighborhood among coast live oaks is the Portola Valley Custom, a 4,000-square-foot, multi-level modern home. Designed by sagemodern, this custom residence is defined by the contrast between its modern, geometric silhouette and the natural landscape surrounding it.
This project utilized a hybrid approach in its construction, combining off-site modular construction with site-built elements to maximize efficiency. The home consists of six prefabricated modules, complemented by a site-built basement, garage, and entryway. The modules were constructed off-site before being transported to the property and installed on top of the basement. The home takes advantage of its sloped site with a reverse floor plan, featuring private bedrooms on the lower level and the kitchen and open living spaces on the upper floor.
