MONOLITH WATER TABLE

STASIS & FLOW | MONOLITH I is a sculptural spatial intervention exploring the relationship between geological permanence and the fleeting presence of water. Carved from a single block of raw travertine and interrupted by a precise wooden axis, the work stages a dialogue between mass and line, stillness and movement, solidity and flow.
Conceived as a sensory anchor rather than a utilitarian object, the monolith functions as a site of reflection, sound, and spatial awareness. Water operates here as a sculptural medium, activating the porous stone surface and emphasizing the tension between material weight and temporal change. Drawing on the Japanese concept of Ma, the work treats void, pause, and interval as integral elements of form.
