The renovation of Zeckendorf Towers reimagines the historic civic anchor with a refined hospitality thoughtfulness that honors its distinct pyramidal forms and interior geometries. The ongoing project is comprised of four residential towers each totaling 29 floors and includes all public spaces from the completed lobby, public elevators, 88 public hallways, public pool, gym, locker rooms, and yoga rooms.
The new design also references the complexes original 80’s character with new elegant material palettes of honey-brown tones and brass metals accompanied with pops of burgundy, blue, yellow, and onyx. Felt, Walnut and brass complement the building’s signature “Zeckendorf style,” paired with large-scale slab flooring to create a timeless, sophisticated foundation.
A focal point of the renovation is the NYCxDesign Award winning sculpture 'Flying in Formation', a custom art installation that acts as both screen and chandelier, fabricated from a fretwork of brass, bronze, steel, and felt, which is also seen throughout the project. Its layered, reflective composition amplifies light, height, and depth—creating movement, visual intrigue, and the illusion of an expanded space while celebrating both past and present craftsmanship.
