Excerpt from the jury report:
The urban design of the project is convincing due to the design and functional unity of the existing building with the new building in terms of clear internal circulation.
The floor plan configuration on the floors allows for good multiple use, which is rated as very positive for the individual use in the day care (different degrees of disability of the residents) also in the sense of small groups with different care and activity requirements.
The accessibility of the day care center fulfills the criteria (drop-off and pick-up service) as well as the pedestrian connection to the park. The orientation of all rooms to the south and east (no north-facing rooms) was rated as positive.
All floors have an outdoor area that is well integrated into the daily routine and is very usable in terms of size and design. The room layout still allows sufficient scope for individual design. The building, with its strongly roughened plinth zone and the bed wing above, is well structured and the room functions are clearly visible from the outside. The wide covered terrace on the north side forms a successful transition from the "day care" residential area to the park. Mahore Architekten with Schafferer architects.
