Benefits for the town's community and tourism
The Biržai Public Spaces Improvement Project involves the comprehensive renovation of important areas of the town to create functional, aesthetic and attractive spaces for local residents and tourists.
The main highlight of the project is a modern 84 m long and 2.5 m wide bridge over the Apascia River, which not only improves pedestrian and cyclists' movement between parts of the city, but also becomes a new symbol of the city. The bridge provides safer and more convenient connections.
Park areas are being renovated and new pedestrian and cycling paths are being built to improve connectivity and promote active leisure. Green areas have been landscaped with new benches, lighting and seating to make public spaces more welcoming and comfortable.
Spaces close to the city's historic sites have been landscaped to preserve their cultural value but also to make them more attractive to visitors. By integrating new design and infrastructure, these spaces become even more suitable for cultural and social events.
The newly designed spaces include modern children's playgrounds as well as sports fields for young people and adults. This contributes to promoting healthy lifestyles and bringing the community together.
All these developments are designed to create an attractive, modern and vibrant urban environment where residents can enjoy nature, culture and active leisure. The landscaped public spaces will increase the attractiveness of the city, attract more visitors and increase the quality of the city.
