Project Narrative
This Melbourne workplace for Momentum Energy represents the next chapter in an ongoing relationship with Hydro Tasmania—one grounded in trust, shared values and a commitment to creating environments where people can do their best work.
Following the success of Hydro Tasmania’s previous Melbourne office fitout by Amicus in 2020, the brief was to deliver a space that felt culturally aligned while responding to the distinct identity and working style of Momentum Energy’s retail team.
At its core, the project is about supporting an activity-based culture—one that values collaboration, autonomy and wellbeing. The workplace was envisioned as a flexible environment that could adapt to the rhythms of the day, offering spaces for connection, learning and focused work in equal measure.
Design Response
Developed in collaboration with design partner Hot Black, the fitout balances brand expression with a warm, human-centred design approach. The arrival experience sets the tone, with a welcoming reception and feature helpdesk articulated through natural timber, terrazzo and layered textures. Subtle branding, including an illuminated Hydro Tasmania logo, reinforces organisational identity without overwhelming the space.
A diverse mix of settings supports the way teams work and interact. Informal touchdown areas and collaborative zones encourage spontaneous connection, while quieter focus spaces provide refuge for concentrated tasks. A flexible training room accommodates learning, team sessions and larger gatherings, reinforcing the organisation’s emphasis on growth and shared knowledge.
Colour is used as a cultural cue throughout the workplace. Earthy oranges and reds introduce warmth and energy within social and collaborative spaces, fostering a sense of momentum and engagement. In contrast, green-toned carpet and softer finishes define workstations and focus zones, creating a calm backdrop that supports clarity and sustained concentration.
Workplace Experience
The completed space offers a workplace that feels open, adaptable and deeply connected to its people. Designed to evolve with the team, it encourages movement, choice and collaboration while respecting the need for quiet and focus.
More than a functional office, the Momentum Energy workplace reflects Hydro Tasmania’s values and reinforces a strong sense of belonging and team identity. The result is an environment that supports wellbeing, nurtures culture and enables people to work with purpose—today and into the future.
