Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) engaged Amicus to reimagine their Sydney office, aiming to create a more dynamic and flexible environment that reflected the organisation’s evolving culture and deep ties to the Australian red meat industry. The project was delivered within a live environment, with all works staged to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
Design Response
The overarching vision was to foster connection—among people, across teams, and to the land that underpins MLA’s mission. Amicus responded with a warm, grounded palette of earthy tones, tactile finishes, and sustainable materials, drawing inspiration from rural landscapes and the farm-to-plate journey.
Approximately 25% of the original fitout was carefully retained and re-integrated, supporting MLA’s sustainability targets and reducing environmental impact.
Key spatial upgrades were delivered across two levels:
Level 1: A commercial-grade show kitchen was integrated to support client engagement, events, and video production. The design and construction required specialist coordination and hospitality-standard detailing.
Level 2: Enhancements to the central breakout space introduced new zones for collaboration, training, and hybrid meetings, supported by upgraded workplace technology.
Seamless Delivery, Tangible Benefits
Despite the complexity of working within an operational office, the project was delivered without disruption through a well-coordinated construction program, adaptive scheduling, and strong site management.
The result is a revitalised workplace that supports agile working, fosters internal and external connection, and reflects MLA’s values through a cohesive, nature-informed design. The integration of sustainable practices and flexible functionality positions the space as both a high-performance workplace and a storytelling platform for Australia’s red meat industry.
