This residence is a striking example of contemporary architecture that masterfully dissolves the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. The design is conceived as an assembly of interconnected volumes, voids, and courtyards, creating a dynamic interplay of light, air, and nature throughout the home.
The architectural language is defined by clean, geometric forms, predominantly finished in white, which serve as a canvas for the lush tropical landscaping and the warmth of natural materials like wood and sandstone. A key feature is the multi-level internal courtyard or atrium, which acts as the home's lung, allowing for natural light and ventilation to permeate deep into the structure. This vertical void is crisscrossed by bridges and overlooked by balconies, fostering a sense of connection between the different floors.
A standout element is the audacious use of a large glass floor, which not only provides a dramatic visual feature but also enhances the feeling of openness and vertical integration, allowing light to filter down to the lower levels. Water is a recurring, tranquil element, with beautifully designed koi ponds and water features that guide the entrance sequence and are visible from the main living areas, creating a serene and resort-like ambiance. The strategic use of slatted pergolas and wooden louvers creates a beautiful play of light and shadow, animating the spaces while providing shade from the tropical sun. The result is a sophisticated and serene sanctuary that celebrates its climate and location, offering a living experience that is both expansive and intimately connected to nature.
