The Harvee School embraces creativity and freedom through its curved architecture, moving away from conventional box-like educational structures. The design reflects a dynamic, child-centric environment where every form and surface communicates playfulness and exploration. The architecture itself becomes a teaching tool — where the curves, textures, and colors of the space encourage imagination and engagement in young learners.
The primary concept revolves around fluidity. The building’s organic geometry creates an atmosphere of openness and joy, resembling the free-flowing spirit of children’s minds. Vivid colors animate the interiors, while curved walls and flowing corridors replace rigid lines, creating a continuous and engaging spatial experience. Every element — from floors to handrails and windows — is intentionally designed to foster play, creativity, and curiosity. Even administrative spaces such as staff areas and the principal’s room are designed to promote openness and friendly interaction, reinforcing the idea of equality and inclusiveness within the learning environment.
At the heart of the school lies a central courtyard that acts as the creative hub of the campus. This open court integrates an amphitheatre, serving both as a gathering zone and a flexible learning space. The courtyard’s design supports visual connectivity across multiple levels, allowing teachers to maintain supervision while providing students with a sense of independence. This introverted planning approach not only enhances safety but also brings natural light and ventilation deep into the building, creating a bright, breathable learning atmosphere.
Natural materials and light play a vital role in defining the character of the school. The façade incorporates perforated brick walls and exposed concrete, establishing an earthy palette that connects with the local context while ensuring cross ventilation and shading. The east-facing perforated wall welcomes morning light into the interior spaces, creating a constantly shifting play of shadows that enriches the spatial experience. The string of openings along the curved walls adds rhythm and softness to the form, emphasizing the seamless dialogue between structure and light.
Inside, the use of bright hues and playful detailing enhances the school’s identity as a vibrant, welcoming space. The continuity of curved elements in walls, floors, and ceilings generates an immersive experience, allowing movement and exploration to become a natural part of learning.
