This project is a masterclass in structural expressionism and sustainable innovation. The building's form is defined by a heavy, sculptural exposed concrete frame, featuring dramatic angled buttresses that lift the main volume off the ground. This creates a powerful, almost monumental presence, while also allowing the landscape to flow underneath, preserving existing trees and creating a sheltered, open-air ground floor.
The most distinctive and celebrated feature is its facade. The concrete grid is infilled not with traditional walls, but with a vibrant screen made from thousands of recycled glass bottles. Arranged in colorful patterns, these bottles act like a massive stained-glass window, filtering the harsh sunlight to cast a beautiful, dappled colored light into the interior spaces. This is a brilliant example of upcycling, transforming waste material into a functional and aesthetically stunning architectural element.
Internally, the rawness of the concrete is thoughtfully contrasted with the warmth and elegance of natural materials. Polished wood is used extensively for the intricate staircases, flooring, and window frames, while dark green marble adds a touch of classic luxury. A central atrium with a slatted skylight bathes the interior in natural light, creating a dynamic play of light and shadow across the different textures. The design thoughtfully navigates the relationship between a heavy, protective shell and a warm, light-filled, and livable interior.
