Hillsboro Beach Contemporary Home Remodel
Purchased as a largely unfinished contemporary residence, this Hillsboro Beach home offered dramatic volume and floor-to-ceiling windows but lacked warmth, intimacy, and a clear sense of how the spaces should be lived in. The clients wanted the home to reflect their creative personalities while feeling relaxed, inviting, and suited to both conversation and everyday life.
One of the central challenges was creating a dedicated place to watch television without compromising the openness of the main living areas. On the mezzanine level, the existing floating wall was extended to form a fully developed media room with an integrated fireplace and television wall clad in black onyx quartz. The installation became a strong visual anchor within the formerly cavernous stairwell and foyer, while also creating a dramatic connection between the media room, kitchen, and living spaces below.
In the kitchen and dining area, a green Calacatta slab accent wall introduced depth, movement, and contrast to the otherwise restrained contemporary setting. The living room parlor was given a more relaxed and conversational character through a preserved moss installation framed by open-slat dark walnut, paired with a custom walnut base cabinet.
Beneath a towering amber crystal chandelier, two contemporary sofas upholstered in Holland & Sherry wool were arranged around an elongated travertine coffee table and accented by Italian leather open-backed chairs. The composition created a generous gathering space that felt polished without becoming formal.
The oversized foyer was also transformed into a purposeful destination rather than a passageway. Two tall wingback chairs in ivory velvet established an intimate seating area, while a central table was styled with a collection of meaningful objects inherited from the homeowner’s mother, bringing personal history and emotional depth into the entrance of the home.
Throughout the residence, bold stone, natural materials, custom millwork, sculptural furnishings, and personal collections were used to soften the scale of the home and create a contemporary interior that feels expressive, comfortable, and distinctly personal.
