The farewell chapel (incl. small museum) is placed along the ontological line between the city of living (east/morning) and the city of dead (west/evening). Its horizontallity responds to pannonian plain and expresses classical, contemplative character, while its trapezoid form plays with perspective principles inside and ouside the building.
A reinterpretation of a long »collonade« (incl. pergola), raised above the horizon (reflecting its sacred character), follows the E-W axis and creates a dialogue between the object (solid) and the square (void), interior and exterior, connecting their complementary geometries. Within this public »place of transition«, where people face and question eternal questions of life and death, we aimed to create a bright, warm and optimistic atmosphere of hope.
