The Education and Teaching Complex Building of Wuhan University of Engineering is an important newly-built public building on campus.
The plan focuses on creating indoor spaces and shaping the cultural atmosphere. As the core of the space, the atrium of the building has its own atrium in the upper and lower parts - the lower atrium is mainly composed of large steps that run through the first to third floors and the school emblem above, supplemented by wooden ceilings, grilles, and walls, creating a ceremonial and commemorative atmosphere. The upper atrium is equipped with large glass skylights to introduce abundant and bright natural light, casting changing light and shadow on the white walls and floors, echoing the diagonal bridges and curved hanging stairs inside the atrium, forming a fresh, bright, comfortable, convenient, and efficient spatial experience.
Optimize the functional flow line and create a clear distribution of functions. The lower part of the building is the school history museum, VIP reception room, and conference area, while the upper part is the administrative office area, avoiding the intersection of different crowds and ensuring convenient access inside. The layout is organized according to standard column grid units of 8.7 meters by 6.3 meters, with flexible division and combination to meet the requirements of office space.
Pay attention to the connection between architecture and campus landscape. The sloping wall of the main entrance of the building serves as an extension of the indoor space on the first floor of the landscape square, while the consistent glass curtain wall on the west side of the building reflects the willingness of the building to open up to the central garden scenery, creating a main interface where the building and landscape interact and permeate each other.
