The first Quebec building in a dense urban environment to receive LEEDⓇ Platinum certification, the Centre for Sustainable Development represents the fulfilment of a dream to build model examples of architecture that emphasize user well-being while respecting the environment.
This project enabled MSDL Architectes to push the boundaries of green building. A Quebec reference for environmentally responsible projects, the Centre is a space for reflecting on the problems of an increasingly fragile planet. Located on St. Catherine Street in the heart of Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles, the Centre for Sustainable Development pursues both a commercial and educational mission.
The atrium overlooking the outdoor garden features a 5-storey living wall that acts as a healthy, passive, natural “lung” to humidify and purify the air.
