Located on the former trading floor of the Montreal Stock Exchange, Ax.c stands as a hub of innovative and technological entrepreneurship unique to Quebec. This large-scale transformation project, spanning 9,290 sq.m., transcends the simple concept of an office and constitutes a true ecosystem where tech startups, university and private incubators and accelerators, investors, and large corporations converge.
The project is based on a vision of “generative deconstruction.” First, deconstructing preconceived notions about workspaces to build new ones. Then, deconstructing the space itself: transforming the existing layout into a vast, open, and luminous core. This bold architectural gesture, punctuated by a majestic staircase and mezzanine spaces, creates a cutting-edge environment that invites creativity and invention.
Stepping into Ax.c is like entering a matrix of innovation. The center, both grand and open, impresses and stimulates the imagination. The environment is versatile and flexible, reconfigurable, and aligned with the evolution of projects and teams. The holistic approach places people at the heart of the design: every detail, from materials to colors, is thought out to harmonize the atmospheres and guide users according to the type of activity. The active design and carefully selected furniture encourage new ways of collaborating, making the space a vibrant, living laboratory.
Ax.c is designed as a melting pot of interdependent forces where adaptability is ever-present, to support the collective energy of the ecosystem. The wide variety of spaces, ranging from prototyping zones to private offices, offers flexible environments that are easily transformable and composed of modular elements (movable partitions, interchangeable furniture, etc.). This modularity allows the space to evolve and continually reconfigure itself in step with iterative explorations, ensuring architectural sustainability capable of responding to ever-changing technological challenges.
Collective synergy culminates in the event spaces. Le Parquet, right at the entrance, evokes the venue’s vibrant energy, while Le Square, a state-of-the-art multifunctional hall, offers sweeping views of Victoria Square. This generous glazing naturally connects the interior innovation to Montreal’s urban vitality, anchoring the project in its surroundings.
More than just a workplace, Ax.c features expressive architecture that amplifies creative energy and shapes the future of Quebec’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
