Located at the intersection of Cara Dušana and Višnjićeva Street in Belgrade's historic Stari Grad district, CD 46 reinterprets an early 20th-century corner building through a careful process of reconstruction, adaptation, integration, and contemporary extension. The project preserves the architectural identity of the original academic-style structure while introducing new residential and commercial spaces that respond to present-day urban needs.
Organized as 2 underground levels, ground floor, seven upper floors, and a recessed top floor (2Po+Pr+7+Ps), the building reinforces the existing street frontage and emphasizes the corner condition through a balanced relationship between the historic and newly added volumes. The extension is set back toward the interior of the site, allowing the original building to remain the dominant architectural element while creating a unified mixed-use composition.
By preserving the existing massing and architectural character while carefully integrating contemporary interventions, the project strengthens the continuity of the surrounding urban fabric and demonstrates a contextual approach to adaptive reuse in one of Belgrade's oldest neighborhoods.
