This new replacement bridge spans over Bayfield River beside the existing marina, just north of the charming town of Bayfield on Lake Huron. DTAH provided bridge architecture and landscape design services for the project, including 3D modelling and renderings to compare the preliminary structural type options considered. The recommended option for the 80m span features a pair of half-through arches suspending the road deck and cantilevered sidewalk on the marina side, that will provide an impressive new landmark for the town.
Architectural enhancements for the new crossing include a separated pedestrian sidewalk overlooking the water, with open railings featuring stainless steel webnet and highly durable ipe wood handrail; adapted roadway barrier with cyclist height railings; low-scale LED light poles; and a consistent white colour treatment carried through the metal components of the project.
