Set on Al Jubail Island in Abu Dhabi, the Al Jubail Island Villa our designers conceptualized for this waterfront enclave holds a symmetrical face crowned by a single soaring arch. Cream stone climbs across two storeys, carved into slim pilasters and deep window recesses that give the elevation real sculptural presence and an air of composed grandeur. The massing feels calm and intentional, its proportions gathered around one vertical axis that pulls the entire frontage into a confident, unified stance.
That axis culminates at the entrance. A double-height glazed portal opens the centre of the villa, its fine bronze mullions lifting the eye toward a fanned archivolt that captures the sky above the parapet. Geometric mashrabiya screens fill the upper opening in a delicate perforated weave, laying patterned shade across the recess and softening the strong Gulf light as it shifts through the hours. Warm timber doors settle the composition at ground level, their honeyed grain a mellow foil to the pale masonry and the cool gleam of the glass.
To either side of the portal, tall arched windows rest within shadowed bays dressed in dark reflective glazing, their bronze frames answering the tone of the central mullions. Those reflections carry the manicured cypress and clipped topiary of the frontage, drawing the garden back into the stonework. A slender vertical rhythm runs through the openings on both floors, giving the elevation an upright poise that matches the ceremonial mood of the design. Mashrabiya detailing reappears at the upper corners of the wings, binding the ornament of the centre to the flanks and lending the surface a woven, hand-finished quality.
Below the villa, a forecourt paved in pale limestone spreads toward the entrance steps, its geometric banding easing the approach forward with measured formality. Raised planters in matching stone edge the path, cradling sculpted greenery and slim conifers that mark the frontage with soft vertical accents. The planting stays disciplined and architectural, a verdant counterweight to the crisp masonry that echoes the symmetry of the plan and gives the arrival a sense of occasion.
Taken as a whole, the elements shape a residence of poised, contemporary Gulf character — generous in scale, exact in detail, and tuned to the light and climate of its island address. The pale palette, the interplay of solid stone and perforated shade, and the ordered greenery resolve into an elevation that reads as monumental and serene at once, a fitting presence for the calm waterfront setting it commands on Al Jubail Island.
