Wood and concrete do not compete here, they complete each other. In Aubervilliers, on the edge of Paris, a worker's pavilion has been radically transformed into a family house of wood and concrete. The ground floor, cast in raw concrete, anchors the house to its plot and opens widely onto the garden. Above, a prefabricated timber-frame volume, clad in vertical wood, holds the bedrooms and a library gallery. The section staggers half-levels around a central void, so that light from the roof falls through the whole depth of the house. Delivered in 2024, the project was published by ArchDaily, IDEAT and e-architect.
