Located within the Red Sea International Airport in Saudi Arabia, this 600 m² VIP Lounge was designed as a refined hospitality environment where architecture, local identity, and user experience are integrated into a single spatial concept. The project explores how an airport interior can transform the waiting experience into a moment of comfort, privacy, and connection with the destination.
The design concept is inspired by the natural landscape of Saudi Arabia, particularly the flowing forms, warm tones, and serene atmosphere of the Arabian Desert. Rather than directly reproducing traditional motifs, the project translates these references into contemporary architectural elements, creating an interior language rooted in place.
The planning strategy was developed around different scenarios of guest experience. The lounge includes reception, relaxation areas, private meeting rooms, and dining spaces, each designed to provide varying levels of interaction and privacy. The layout creates a smooth transition between open communal zones and more secluded areas, allowing guests to work, rest, or socialize depending on their needs.
The reception area establishes the first impression of the lounge through a sculptural composition inspired by desert landscapes. A gradient metal wall panel, a flowing reception desk, and the suspended “Desert Flower” light installation form the central visual axis of the space. Their organic shapes reference the movement of sand dunes and the changing colors of the desert sky.
The central lounge area is organized around carefully positioned seating groups that provide both visual connection and personal comfort. Furniture arrangements create intimate zones within the larger space, allowing guests to choose between quiet relaxation, informal meetings, or views toward the airport runways.
Material selection plays a key role in creating the atmosphere of the interior. Bronze accents, natural textures, warm stone surfaces, and soft lighting reflect the colors of the surrounding landscape while reinforcing the premium character of the lounge. A sculptural wall composition made of glass elements interprets the silhouette of desert dunes, bringing an artistic expression of the regional environment into the interior.
Private meeting rooms continue the project's connection with nature through architectural details inspired by the contours of sand formations. Curved bronze partitions create a sense of enclosure while maintaining openness, offering privacy without relying on traditional barriers.
The buffet and bar area combines functionality with hospitality, ensuring comfortable movement for both guests and staff. Panoramic views of the runway connect the interior with the dynamic environment of the airport while maintaining the calm atmosphere of the lounge.
Through the integration of cultural references, thoughtful circulation, and bespoke artistic elements, the VIP Lounge creates a contemporary interpretation of Saudi hospitality. The project demonstrates how commercial interiors can become memorable architectural experiences, transforming a transitional airport space into a destination in itself.
