Located within a pine forest on the outskirts of Tashkent, this 740 m² private residence was designed as a contemporary retreat that contrasts with the intensity of urban life while maintaining a strong architectural presence. The project explores the relationship between modern architecture and the natural landscape, creating a seamless transition between built form and environment.
The site itself became the primary design driver. Surrounded by mature pine trees, the residence was conceived as an extension of the landscape rather than an autonomous object. The architectural composition is defined by clean horizontal lines, deep cantilevered roof overhangs, and expansive glazing that establishes continuous visual connections with the surrounding forest.
The building massing is organized through a deliberate contrast between a darker, more enclosed ground level and a lighter upper volume. Vertical slatted elements reinforce privacy while filtering views and sunlight, whereas large glazed surfaces open the interior toward the landscape. This interplay of solid and transparent elements creates a balanced architectural expression that is both monumental and lightweight.
The spatial organization responds to the functional requirements of a multigenerational family residence. The ground floor accommodates the public program, including a double-height living and dining area, a private office, guest spaces, and an integrated wellness zone with a swimming pool, sauna, and hammam. Panoramic glazing maximizes daylight penetration and strengthens the connection between interior and exterior spaces.
The upper level is dedicated to private family functions. Three bedrooms, a family lounge, and the primary suite are arranged around views toward the pine landscape. The circulation strategy maintains visual continuity between floors while preserving privacy within individual zones.
Outdoor spaces play a significant role in the architectural concept. Covered terraces beneath the extended roof planes create shaded transitional areas that mediate between the interior and the garden. These spaces become an integral part of daily life, encouraging year-round interaction with the natural environment.
Materiality emphasizes durability and restraint. Light porcelain panels, dark metal elements, and integrated linear lighting create a refined architectural language that changes throughout the day and becomes particularly expressive after sunset. Landscape design follows the same principles, employing large-format stone paving, low vegetation, and carefully composed circulation routes that reveal different perspectives of the residence and its surroundings.
The project demonstrates how contemporary residential architecture can achieve a balance between privacy, functionality, and a strong connection to nature, creating a living environment where architecture becomes part of the landscape itself.
