The Aquatics Center at New Clark City,Tarlac, is a purpose-built swimming and diving competition venue. Its form is inspired by the weaving patterns of the “baklad” (fish corrals) and capiz shells, translating coastal heritage into a contemporary architectural language. The facility comprises a two-level bleacher with 2,000 seats, VIP lounge, Olympic pool, training pool, and diving pool, with an adjacent dryland training area equipped with foam diving, trampolines, and athlete conditioning equipment. Designed and executed for structural efficiency and spatial clarity, the project was completed in 18 months for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and is FINA-accredited, exemplifying the integration of heritage-inspired form, modern construction, and functional excellence.
