Lumot Lakehouse is comprised of three different structures built on a 400sqm lot facing Lumot Lake, a body of water located in Laguna province. Upon approach to the property, each part of the house, from the interiors to the verandas, appears to merge with the lake and sky, creating a seamless transition between the indoors and outdoors.
Inspired by the vernacular hut (bahay kubo), the residential structures reinterpret the familiar form through contemporary materials. While constructed primarily of concrete and glass, the roofs and eaves are made from crushed bamboo. A discreet water feature encircles each structure, creating the impression that the architecture gently dissolves into the lake beyond.
The project embodies a holistic design philosophy that integrates architecture, landscape, and lifestyle into a unified experience. Every element is carefully composed to strengthen the relationship between the built environment and its natural surroundings.
The interiors are furnished with pieces crafted from indigenous materials. Each furniture arrangement is oriented toward the windows, allowing uninterrupted views of the lake and reinforcing the connection between the interior spaces and the landscape.
The architectural concept emphasizes the gradual merging of the house with its setting. From the entrance, the lake is framed between two bahay kubo-inspired structures. As visitors approach, they experience the texture of the bamboo roof before moving across modern concrete slabs that lead toward an infinity-edge water feature, where the glass volumes visually merge with the lake beyond.
Lumot Lakehouse received the Haligi ng Dangal honor in the Residential Interior Design category in 2017.
