A 3,700 sq. ft. office designed by Architects for Architects. The project explores the nexus of Architect as Designer and Architect as tenant. Truly a team project, this incorporates the best of design to transform an otherwise inconspicuous office environment into a dynamic and engaging, contemporary space for its occupants. The design breaks from the traditional axiom of architectural modernism to create flexible and fluid work spaces within an open floor plan.
Here, “function is enriched by form” and the spaces created, work not only to enhance the productivity of this “family first” company, but to meet the needs and improve the social and psychological experience of its users. Having worked previously in a 900 s.f. office space with no windows, the staff would embrace the almost floor to ceiling windows, natural light and views. The interior architecture seeks to reinforce the company’s identity and there is evidence of their branding in the walls, hardware and materials.
At reception, visitors are greeted by bold colors, custom reception desk, and a feature wall that let’s visitors know that this isn’t your ordinary office. The open production area and kitchen become the heart of the office; a place to take a break, catch up with a colleague or grab an espresso or smoothie. The flexible furniture and white board walls create a variety of space for collaboration, brainstorming or just getting together to chat. While the exposed structure and unfinished spiral ductwork is in contrast with sleek LED light fixtures, one gets the sense that they are meant to be together. The Bluetooth music system allows the staff to select an appropriate genre to stimulate the task at hand. The conference room and video wall serve to convey to clients and anyone else who visits, that this Firm is at the top of its game.
