Sculpchair is a research-driven lounge chair developed by Tannaz Karimi at Tez Architects, Tehran. Its defining gesture is continuity: two bent steel tube rails form the entire structure — legs, arms, and backrest — without joints at the corners or seams where one element meets another.
The chair has no fixed orientation. The asymmetric backrest invites the user to choose which side to lean toward, making each sitting experience a small act of decision. A pair of Sculpchairs extends this logic into space: facing, back-to-back, side by side, or angled, the two chairs yield at least four distinct arrangements — transforming a seating object into a spatial instrument.
Sculpchair is designed for the pause — lobby, gallery threshold, studio corner, terrace. Places where sitting is not the main event, but a moment of human punctuation within a larger flow. The seat cushion is upholstered in leather or velvet; the steel frame is available in two independent colours, allowing the rails to contrast or complement one another.
