This majestic limestone Park Slope townhouse had plenty of original ornament for our restoration. But our new insertions were sleekly modern. This high contrast shows in details like the cast glass globes hung over the ornate wood stair.
We used soapstone not only for the kitchen countertops, but also for the baseboards and floor border. (That last detail we borrowed from The Frick.) And a mod stained glass door lightens the heavy wood wainscot of a traditional dining room.
Downstairs, an oversized aquarium gives the TV room an under-water vibe. And outside, we sculpted the garden and rooftop into open-air rooms for dining and lounging.
