PagerDuty’s Lisbon office is a bold interpretation of Portuguese identity within a contemporary workplace.
Designed by Openbook Architecture, the project draws on local cultural references and decorative materials to create a space that resonates with the city’s spirit while meeting the demands of a modern, agile work environment.
The concept is built around four symbolic realms, each representing a facet of Portuguese mythology and urban life.
These metaphors guide the spatial organization:
- Sky offers a serene setting for expansive and confidential meetings. - Land reflects the vibrant pulse of Lisbon’s business and cultural life. - House, with its circular form, fosters unity and collaboration. - Sea, inspired by the Tagus River and its iconic bridge, introduces fluidity and openness.
This narrative-driven approach allowed for a creative yet rational design strategy, balancing imaginative storytelling with workplace best practices. The office embraces transparency and spatial continuity, establishing a seamless dialogue between interior and exterior, and reinforcing a sense of belonging to the city.
Refined decorative elements, curated colour palettes, and biophilic touches contribute to a cohesive and culturally rich environment. The result is a distinctive workspace that celebrates Portuguese heritage while supporting innovation, collaboration, and employee well-being.
