The proposed intervention resulted in a lower carbon footprint than would have resulted from the demolition of the existing building. The intervention adopted a bold attitude, integrating the building (transformer substation) with its surroundings through the use of shotcrete. At the same time, it utilizes three of its large surfaces as showcases to display an environmental awareness message "Sin CO2" (No CO2) on one of the busiest roads on the island.
The building, located on a hillside, has been reinforced with its surroundings by unifying its base, interpreting it as a volcanic flow. Through this unification, the relationship between the building and its environment is improved, transforming them into a single piece that forms a landmark landscape feature that interacts with the city and the highway, using vegetation as a continuity element.
