The former industrial arts shop room conversion resulted from the renovations to 2,400 s.f. of under-utilized space to create a special education suite for elementary school children.
The design of the room provides flexibility in a multi-functional space that offers optimal supervision. There is also a Kitchenette/Life Skills area and Toilet/Changing area.
The finishes incorporate rubberized flooring that offers protection from falls; soft tones and warm colors to provide an inviting atmosphere and little distraction and a layout that promotes three distinct areas of instruction-
1. General Classroom
2. Socialization
3. OT/PT
In addition of the classroom conversion, a new entry vestibule was located near the classroom to facilitate community based instruction and travel training.
