Our addition to this Montclair house was tiny, but we cured the house all of its problems in one shot. Though only big enough for a small mud room, laundry, and half bathroom, the addition also let us relocate the back door.
This made a huge impact on the sitting room–previously burdened with the back door. With five doorways and no clean walls, there was nowhere to put a sofa. At the heart of the house, the sitting room was unfurnishable, until now. Now, it’s a room made for lounging and TV watching.
The old kitchen had been an awkward size: too narrow for an island but too wide for efficient use. While it’s now considerably more spacious, our new island puts everything is within easy reach. And we replaced one backsplash with a ribbon of windows to open up views to the backyard.
